The American International Electric Power Exhibition and Conference (IEEE PES T&D) was founded in 1964 and is hosted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

The exhibition has developed rapidly in the 50 years since its establishment. It is currently the largest, fastest-growing international exhibition in the world's power transmission and distribution industry with the largest number of professional visitors.

Under the trend of my country's power transmission and distribution equipment manufacturing companies vigorously developing overseas markets, a total of 94 exhibitors from China participated in the exhibition, with an exhibition area of more than 15,000 square feet, which attracted great attention from the participants. The exhibition is the most important platform to connect global power transmission and distribution equipment manufacturing, technology applications and international trade.

According to foreign market research institutions, the U.S. power transmission and distribution equipment market is expected to reach US$33.4 billion in 2019, with an average annual growth rate of approximately 5.5%. Growth in power generation from independent power producers and non-utility power plants, as well as higher generation from renewable sources, are the main reasons for the growth in demand for transmission and distribution equipment. In addition, increasing demands for power grid modernization and upgrades, energy efficiency improvements and reliability will promote the intelligent development of the power market, thereby promoting the growth of demand for advanced transmission and distribution equipment.

Compared with the growth in power transmission and distribution demand, the shipments of power transmission and distribution equipment in the United States cannot meet expectations. According to forecasts, U.S. power transmission and distribution equipment shipments will reach US$27.4 billion (approximately RMB 171.5 billion) in 2019, with an average annual growth rate of approximately 4.7%.

Historically, the United States has been a net importer of power transmission and distribution equipment. It is expected that by 2019, its trade deficit in power transmission and distribution equipment will continue to grow.
