Governance of excessive packaging focuses on changing the concept of "face"

2023-05-17 14:06760

"Tea leaves weighing less than 150 grams are put into all kinds of exquisite jars and bottles, with foam and partitions inside, and some are covered with yellow silk and satin. Exquisite cartons, the packaging weight is several times or even ten times heavier than the tea, such packaging is too much!" Around Qingming, when new teas were launched, the widely criticized phenomenon of excessive tea packaging "the sound of the waves is still there" has become a persistent problem in the industry.

Not only tea, but also fruits, moon cakes and other foods also have excessive packaging problems. Food is for eating, not for "show". In the final analysis, excessive packaging is the product of consumers' "face" mentality and comparison psychology. Merchants do what they like and cater to people's psychology of "love face and show off". Products with luxurious packaging and elegant appearance always make people feel that they have face and can be sold. Thick foam, exquisite trays, luxurious cartons, beautiful bags, only a few strawberries or a few moon cakes, it feels like selling packaging, which reminds people of the allusion of buying a box and returning the pearls.

Excessive packaging causes environmental pollution and waste of resources. Many packaging materials cannot be recycled or reused, and have become veritable "garbage". At the same time, over-packaged goods also increase the volume of items, increasing transportation costs and logistics costs. However, the wool comes from the sheep, and the extra cost of excessive packaging will eventually be paid by consumers.

In fact, the country has always attached great importance to the problem of excessive packaging, and resolutely hit hard and severely rectified it. In recent years, the State Administration for Market Regulation has successively issued relevant standards and regulations to regulate packaging behavior. On September 2, 2021, the mandatory national standard "Restricting Excessive Packaging of Commodities Requirements for Food and Cosmetics" was issued; on August 15, 2022, it issued another Amendment No. 1 of this standard mainly puts forward specific requirements for the number of packaging layers, packaging costs and mixing requirements of moon cakes and zongzi, which is highly operable and enforceable.

At the same time, the State Administration for Market Regulation has also organized many times to carry out special rectification work on excessive packaging. Through a series of measures, it has vigorously rectified the chaos of excessive packaging, and made every effort to create a green, low-carbon packaging, simple and moderate consumption environment for the society, so as to promote the conservation of packaging resources and environmental protection. .

Treating the symptoms is more important than treating the root cause. only when the whole society establishes a new consumption trend of "moderate simplicity, low-carbon environmental protection, and green civilization" can we "slim down" and "loosen" excessively packaged goods; only when we truly abandon the concept of "face" can we remove layers of packaging. only in this way can excessive packaging be blocked from the source.

Say one thousand, say ten thousand, the most important thing is to change the concept. Governance of excessive packaging starts with changing the concept of "face".
