Recently, the Consumer Protection Committee of Zhejiang Province made unannounced visits to tea packaging wholesale markets and tea retail stores in some scenic spots in response to the problem of excessive tea packaging. Unannounced visits found that the price of tea packaging (excluding tea) currently on the market is generally 30-300 yuan, the lower price is 30-60 yuan, and the higher price is 200-300 yuan. Among them, the packaging with the highest price is 380 yuan. High-priced tea packaging is generally a wooden box or bamboo box + pottery or porcelain cans, and a few are tin cans.
In addition, some tea packaging is not only expensive, but also very "amazing" in weight. For example, a tea box weighing 6 catties only contains half a catty of tea leaves.
According to a tea dealer, high-priced tea packaging is often used for gift giving. The more luxurious the packaging, the more expensive the tea, and the greater the premium space.
According to the "Restrictions on Excessive Packaging Requirements for Commodities Food and Cosmetics" (GB 23350-2021) and its No. 1 Amendment, excessive packaging refers to packaging that exceeds the required packaging void ratio, packaging layers, and packaging costs. The number of layers of tea packaging should not exceed 4 layers. The production organization shall take measures to control the cost of all packaging except the packaging directly in contact with the contents not to exceed 20% of the sales price of the product. The standard also stipulates the packaging void ratio and calculation method of tea and related products.
Excessive packaging of tea is likely to cause waste of resources and environmental pollution, which is contrary to the concept of green and low-carbon development. Many tea gift boxes are difficult to reuse, and are often easily discarded as domestic garbage. The Consumer Protection Committee of Zhejiang Province advocates that packaging companies and tea operators should strictly abide by relevant laws and national standards, produce and use tea packaging that saves materials, is convenient to recycle, and is economical and applicable, and does not use excessive packaging to engage in unfair competition and damage consumers' legal rights. rights and interests. Consumers should consciously resist and supervise excessive packaging of tea, choose simple and green packaging products, and practice green and low-carbon concepts and lifestyles. At the same time, the Consumer Protection Committee of Zhejiang Province suggested that relevant departments strengthen the management of excessive tea packaging, strengthen supervision and law enforcement, improve the standard system, resolutely curb excessive packaging chaos, and return tea to its natural authenticity.
