Quick Review|To curb excessive packaging needs to treat both symptoms and root causes

It is another spring tea season, but the excessive packaging of some tea companies and merchants has caused many consumers to "look at the tea and sigh". The China Consumers Association released the "Research on Commodity Excessive Packaging and Consumer Perception Survey Report" on the 28th, showing that consumers are the most concerned about the issue of excessive tea packaging.

What kind of packaging is considered excessive? Is there too much packaging material? According to the China Consumers Coordination survey, consumers have many blind spots in their cognition of excessive packaging. only 34.0% of consumers understand the correct definition of excessive packaging, and only 7.8% of consumers are familiar with the criteria for judging excessive packaging. For example, a 250-gram tea pack weighs 2 kilograms. Although the three-layer packaging meets the national standard, the tricky thing is the gap between the packages. The packaging box is huge, but the tea tube inside is obviously too small.

Curbing excessive packaging is not a new topic, and the implementation of relevant policies has also achieved certain results. For example, after the relevant departments made clear regulations on mooncake packaging last year, the overall price of mooncakes is lower than in previous years. The unit price of boxed mooncakes in the market is more than 500 yuan The average selling price of each box of mooncakes is more than 150 yuan. However, excessive packaging is still repeatedly prohibited. It is not enough to just treat the superficial situation. The key is to find the deep-seated reasons.

For manufacturers and operators, in the face of increasingly fierce market competition for products that tend to be homogeneous in production and sales, especially tea, moon cakes, rice dumplings, etc., it is better to spend a lot of time and energy on improving quality and developing new tastes. Working hard on packaging is "cost-effective". At the same time, some consumers do have a demand for packaging. Traditional seasonal products such as mooncakes and rice dumplings can have a sense of ceremony when buying them. For example, a mooncake gift box that was very popular on the Internet last year, its packaging itself is a "sacrifice" "Platform", consumers can use a flashlight to simulate moonlight to "sprinkle" on it.

To curb excessive packaging, it is necessary to treat both symptoms and root causes. In addition to further refining the judgment of excessive packaging so that consumers can distinguish it from the naked eye or senses and facilitate supervision, the relevant departments should also encourage enterprises to innovate in packaging and promote more environmentally friendly and convenient packaging. The packaging method increases the sense of design and experience of product packaging, not the complexity. For example, on the packaging of tea, a transparent window can be left on the outer packaging, so that consumers can better understand the quality of tea and buy with more confidence. From a long-term perspective, the responsibility of the provider of the package is not only in the production process, but also extends to recycling and disposal after disposal.

To curb excessive packaging, make the concept of safe, practical, green and economical packaging a conscious behavior of producers and operators, and further promote market regulation, so as to make consumers more satisfied.
