The centralized inspection of excessive packaging was carried out, and the "first shot" of Chongqing's special treatment of excessive tea packaging was fired.
According to reports, this inspection focused on the number of tea packaging layers, packaging voids, and packaging materials. A total of 13 merchants were inspected, and 20 types of tea were inspected. The tea has undergone on-site random inspection and has been sent to the Chongqing Institute of Metrology and Quality Inspection for verification in accordance with regulations.
At the same time, during the inspection, law enforcement officers also regulated the clear price of tea and the labeling of loose tea, and urged business entities to post clear price tags and actively inform consumers of the price.
The relevant person in charge of the Jiangbei District Market Supervision Bureau stated that in the future, we will highlight key areas, key products, and important time nodes, continue to carry out special treatment of excessive product packaging, increase supervision and law enforcement, and strictly investigate and punish violations of excessive product packaging.
Upstream news reporters learned that the newly revised "Restricting Excessive Packaging Requirements for Commodities and Cosmetics" will be implemented from September 2023. The mandatory national standard covers 31 categories of food and 16 categories of cosmetics, including tea, alcohol, etc. According to relevant requirements, the number of layers of packaging for tea and related products shall not exceed four; the production unit shall take measures to control the cost of all packaging except for packaging directly in contact with the contents not to exceed 20% of the sales price of the product.
