During the Spring Festival of the Year of the Dragon, intangible cultural heritage is an indispensable "hard dish". On the morning of December 30, a small reporter from Hangzhou Net came to the intangible Cultural Heritage Museum in Shangcheng District to experience the production of New Year pictures with block printing. The event was organized by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center of Shangcheng District and the Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports of Shangcheng District, and is one of the series of activities of "Intangible Cultural Heritage Celebrating the New Year".

New Year pictures, which originated from the ancient "door God paintings", are one of the Chinese folk arts and one of the common folk crafts. New Year pictures are a popular art form of the Chinese people, most of which are used for Posting and decorating the environment during the New Year, containing the meaning of blessing the auspicious New Year, so the name New Year pictures.

Leading the children in this activity is Yang Jie, Bachelor of Arts, Printmaking Department of China Academy of Art, Master of Fine Arts, Berlin University of the Arts, Arts and crafts artist, representative inheritor of intangible cultural heritage in the Upper city district.

Yang Jie introduced to the children the relationship between printing and New Year pictures and the characteristics of New Year pictures of different dynasties. "China is the first country in the world to invent printing, we all know that printing is one of the four great inventions of China, but the most known is the movable type printing of Bi Sheng in the Northern Song Dynasty, but the earliest block printing actually appeared in the Tang Dynasty, the mass production of ancient New Year pictures is generally made by block printing." With the teacher's careful explanation, the children gradually have a better understanding of the New Year pictures.

How to make New Year pictures by block printing? Yang Jie introduced the tools and techniques needed for rubbing New Year pictures to the children. When coloring the New Year pictures, we should use the way of jumping, otherwise it is easy to erase the color; Paper rubbing should be kept relatively still, otherwise the pattern is easy to flower... After the teacher's explanation and demonstration, the children were eager to try.

Dab on color, lay down white paper, reverse stencil, slap rubbing... After a series of processes, the children made New Year pictures one by one. In this activity, Yang Jie not only prepared New Year pictures with different patterns for everyone, but also prepared many blank bookmarks, so that everyone can make their own exclusive bookmarks after the production of New Year pictures.

"Today's activity is very good, let the children learn a lot of knowledge about Chinese printing process, understand the origin of Chinese printing, development and modern printing process." The on-site teacher's vivid explanation and demonstration made the children learn how to brush the process faster, and the children were very happy during the experience." Ren Zhiran mother told reporters.

It is reported that the Shangcheng City Culture and Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, together with the streets from the New Year's Day holiday to February 24 (the fifteenth day of the first lunar month), will successively launch a series of "intangible cultural heritage" activities, activities will be based on more than 100 representative items of intangible cultural heritage at all levels, such as Chinese bronze carving, tea, carving, and paper-cutting. Using a combination of online and offline methods, people can enjoy intangible heritage products, view folk arts, and learn intangible heritage skills at their doorsteps, and have a "intangible heritage Year" full of flavor.
