2024-10-09 16:14160

Huge posters of Chinese online novels, book signings for the Henan edition, Chinese publishing house tours... The 27th São Paulo International Book Biennale was full of "Chinese style".

The Sao Paulo International Book Biennale will be held from the 6th to the 15th at the Annanbee Convention and Exhibition Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil. As the largest and most important book event in the industry in South America, this year there are 227 exhibitors, nearly 700 writers on site, and nearly one million visitors.

  Chinese online articles seize market

NewPOP Editora Publishing House, which has emerged in the Brazilian comics market in recent years, has opened a counter for Chinese online novels and comics. Huge posters of ancient Chinese characters were also displayed to attract popularity.

"Brazil is a big country of animation and games, and we accept works of all forms, especially novels and animations with historical themes." Reader Ana Paula Doro said that in the past, Japanese animation accounted for the mainstream market in Brazil, but in recent years, China Antique works continue to emerge, and the Brazilian audience is expanding.

New Pop store clerk Aguiar said that after Chinese ancient puppet shows became popular on Netflix, more and more Brazilian readers came to inquire about the original books. “We immediately decided to introduce Portuguese versions of some novels of the same name to everyone. The comics are now selling well in online bookstores and physical bookstores, and have achieved great success."

UNESCO signs contract for cooperation with Henan Publishing House

The delegation led by Zhu Guoxin, deputy secretary-general of the China Publishing Association, not only held the second Latin American Chinese Culture Tour Exhibition in Brazil, Peru, etc., but also went to this book fair to explore business opportunities.

During this trip, the Educational Science Press and Dexin Bilingual School, a local Chinese school in Sao Paulo, signed a publishing and distribution agreement for teaching materials for Chinese as a foreign language to jointly promote the dissemination of teaching materials for teaching Chinese as a foreign language and promote Chinese education. Signed cooperation framework agreements with several Brazilian publishing institutions such as Hd Cultural, Editora Inserir, Telos Editora, São Paulo State University Press, etc., and will cooperate in the copyright transactions of children's books, youth education, traditional Chinese medicine and other books, as well as the translation of academic documents and classic works. Collaborate.

Zheng Haojie, president and editor-in-chief of the Educational Science Press, said in an interview, "As an important institution in educational publishing in China, the Educational Science Press has taken a very important step in academic publishing and children's picture book publishing, especially in international cooperation."

In Zheng Haojie’s view, this first trip to Brazil and even Latin America to spread the voice of Chinese culture and education can be described as “an ice-breaking trip.” “I hope that through today’s visit and exchange in the future, we can further promote cooperation with relevant Brazilian institutions. Spread the voice of Chinese education further and wider.”
