At the 22nd Bangkok International Book Fair, 52-year-old Bangkok citizen Agyapong Monirant specially selected a book about Chinese culture at the Chinese booth. "China is one of the oldest countries in the world. I have always been interested in the splendid Chinese culture. I chose this book because I wanted to learn about some Chinese culture and history that I didn't know before."

The 22nd Bangkok International Book Fair, hosted by the Thai Publishers and Booksellers Association, opened on March 28 and lasted for 12 days. As the largest annual book fair in Thailand, the Bangkok International Book Fair has become an important platform for book and copyright transactions in Southeast Asia and one of the important platforms for the Chinese publishing industry to export copyrights to Thailand.

For this book fair, the Chinese publishing delegation is led by China Scientific and Technological Materials import and Export Co., Ltd. and consists of six publishing houses including People's Daily Press, Renmin University of China Press, and Higher Education Press. It brings more than 500 kinds of books and more than 700 books in total. Books were exhibited at the exhibition.

Li Yan, deputy general manager of China Scientific and Technological Materials import and Export Co., Ltd., introduced that the delegation selected outstanding publications in the fields of traditional Chinese culture and history, Chinese teaching, children, traditional Chinese medicine and health, and online literature to appear at the book fair, aiming to provide international peers and Thai readers open a window to understand China.

China Renmin University Press focused on promoting the "Chinese-Style Modernization Research Series" and the "Understanding China·Understanding China" book series, and held copyright trade talks with more than 20 publishing institutions from Thailand, Vietnam, India and other countries. Liu Wei, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Renmin University of China Press, said that as the main organizer of the mutual translation project of Chinese and Thai classics, the publishing house this time brought books that reflect China's contemporary society, politics and economy. These books rely on their profound connotations and unique perspective, winning the attention of many publishers and readers.

Willen Phichawampadi, director of the Thailand-China “One Belt, One Road” Research Center, has cooperated with a number of Chinese publishing institutions and translated many sets of Chinese-themed books. He said that in the face of complex international and regional environments, Southeast Asian countries generally hope to learn from China's development achievements. He looks forward to more Chinese books being translated and published in Thailand, and believes that these books will provide Thai readers with an important reference for a more comprehensive understanding of Chinese modernization.

This year, Xie Yubing, a Thai sinologist and Thai professor at Beijing Foreign Studies University, participated in the Bangkok International Book Fair with the Chinese publishing delegation for the third time. She witnessed the continuous expansion of the scale of the Chinese booth. Thailand's Sukaphajai Publishing House also introduced the book "I See the Growth of China" written by Xie Yubing and held a book promotion meeting for the Thai version of the book.

“When we participated in the exhibition in the first year, the delegation only had one booth. Later, seeing the enthusiasm of Thai people to learn Chinese, we gradually expanded the scale. This year, there are three booths,” said Xie Yubing. “I have lived in China for more than 20 years and witnessed China has undergone tremendous changes.”

She told reporters that there are currently many books on the Thai market that recommend China's tourism and economy, but there are not many books that describe the changes in Chinese people's lives, so she wants to recommend this book to Thai readers to build a platform for Thai people to understand contemporary China. bridge. Cai Bimei, president of Sukaphajai Publishing House, said that she believes this book can help the Thai people better understand China, strengthen ties between the two countries, and bring Thailand-China friendship to a higher level.

At this book fair, Higher Education Press focused on promoting vocational education textbooks. Long Jie, deputy editor-in-chief of Higher Education Press, said that the purpose of bringing the Luban Workshop series of vocational education textbooks and "Chinese + Vocational Skills" textbooks to the Bangkok International Book Fair is to promote the cultivation of skilled talents in the countries that jointly build the "Belt and Road".
