According to Egypt's Al-Ahram newspaper, the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) announced at a meeting on the 28th that 11,300 books from the Egyptian National Library and Archives will soon be digitized on the Egyptian Digital Heritage Platform.
Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Talat stressed the importance of the platform in enriching Egypt's cultural heritage and enhancing Egypt's soft power.
The move follows the signing of a three-year cooperation agreement between MCIT and the National Library and Archives of Egypt, the report said.
Talat said the agreement was a key first step in the cooperation, covering a number of aspects including documentation and training.
According to the report, Egypt is rapidly advancing the digital transformation of all government services in accordance with the "Egypt Vision 2030". In recent years, Egypt has significantly increased its budget allocation in the field of information and communications technology.
